Favorite character in the Story

In the story of the "Old Man In the Sea" my favorite character is the old man. He is a curious and risk taking old man. For example he spent 89 days at sea trying to catch this one fish, so that it would show all the other fisher men he is still capable of catching great fish. Like he says in this one line, "I must have a clear head." He preserverance to get the fish is remarkable during the entire story. My moms favorite character in the story is the boy. The boy at first fished with the old man, but then his parents made him stop because the old man hadn't caught anything due to bad luck as they call it in the book. She really like that he helped the old man all the time. For example with his coffee in the morning, with taking the mast of the boat when he came bad from his fishing trips and much more.

Pea Pollination

Important words from the text
Heredity= The passing of physical characteristics from parents to offspring

Trait= a characteristic that an organism can pass to its offspring through its genes.

Genetics= the scientific study of heredity.
Fertilization= the process where a new organism begins to form when egg and sperm join.

Purebred= organism is the same offspring of many generations that have the same trait.

Hybrid= organism that has mixed, different traits.

Crossing Pea Plants

1. To prevent self-pollination, Mendel removed the pollen-producing structures from a pink flower.
2. He used a brush to remove pollen from a white flower to another plant. He brushed this pollen onto the pink plant.
3. The egg cells in the pink flower were then fertilized by sperm from the white flower. After a time, peas formed in the pod.
4. Then you get the crossing of pollination.

Samples

I think that Mendel would have to take 1000 samples for each plant to get a very accurate estimate to see what the pollination of pea plants.
